Trouble-shooting my Guide to UU blogs.

Hmm. Of the 28 readers who've written in about their success or failure at loading my Guide to Unitarian Universalist blogs, all the IE 7 users and all but two of the IE 6 users are having problems. Only one Mac user (using Firefox) had trouble.

So now I'm going to try a test and I'd like to hear back especially from Internet Explorer users. (First variable to test: the Amazon banner ads.) Are your results any better this time?

::waving:: Can't open it in AOL 9.0 SE. No problems in Firefox 2.0.0.4 for Windows.

The Guide opened up, but the MS IE dialogue box appeared saying "IE cannot open the Internet site. Operation aborted." When I click on OK or the close button, the dialogue box and the Guide disappear and "The page cannot be displayed" appears. The dialogue box can be moved around, but the Guide cannot be manipulated. I get a tone.

I have IE 6, Windows 2000, DSL modem outside the PC.

I have the same problem with IE 7 that I had last time: an error message stating IE can't open the link. Sorry!

I'm emailing you a screenshot of the error that popped up when I unsuppressed popups.

I think you have an errant period in the URL

I've turned off one pop-uppy Amazon gizmo I had forgotten about. Let's see if things get any better.

As before - IE 7.0 on Windows XP gives same operation aborted message.

Two interesting facts
1) if I use the back arrow from the IE could not display page - the page displays but has a "Done, but with errors on page" message at the bottom suggesting definitely in the JavaScript code of your page or somebody elses
2) The abort message appears at a specific point. Namely the main text shows up. The philocrites column (picture of man running, Daily show quote, brief background) loads fine. The right most column loads "Promoting" with the add for stop postal rates, loads the phrase "Advertising" but gives the error message before displaying what I can see in the back arrow trick (#1 above) should be the "Ads by google" redirect and before the ads that should appear. This suggest the problem is the "Ads by google" header.

OK under Firefox 1.5.0.12, "Operation Aborted" under IE 6.0.29
