Having trouble with my Guide to UU blogs?

I've heard from a few readers that my Guide to Unitarian Universalist blogs doesn't load successfully on their computers. So I'd like to do a quick survey to try to identify the problem. Please let me know whether you can successfully load the guide on your browser, and tell me what operating system (Windows NT, Windows XP, Mac OS 10, etc.) and browser (Internet Explorer 6.0, Firefox 2.0, etc.) you're using. It may also be relevant to add what kind of Internet service you have: dialup, DSL, cable, etc.

I'm thinking of breaking the guide out of the blog and publishing it without all the many comments that have made it so very long. But I'm not entirely sure it's causing people problems simply due to its size.

Thanks for your help!

Mac OS 10.4.9:
Safari, no problem.
Firefox: totally hangs, waiting for The scroll bar seems to indicate the whole length of the page, but I can neither scroll down nor switch to another window. I had to quit Firefox in order to get the page off my screen.

I've used your wonderful guide in the past without any problems, but today I get an "Internet Explorer cannot publish the website..." error message. I'm using IE (obviously) and Windows XP with a cable modem.

Theory: The page is all gussied up with Javascript from Google AdSense, Amazon, and StatCounter, which may be interacting badly because the page is already so long. But behavior is inconsistent even on the same platforms, so I'm going to keep collecting data for a little while.

Thanks to the commenters and email correspondents so far! Please keep checking in.

Windows XP Home Edition
IE 7: crashes every time
Firefox loads fine

I mostly use IE (creature of habit), so I've set your Guide to UU blogs as my Firefox homepage, and recently I've been using Firefox specifically when I want to surf blogs. If you ask me how often I do that, I'll plead the 5th Amendment.

I've never had a problem before. However, I tried both the link in the message and on the sidebar this morning and get an error message before the page disappears.

I'm using Windows XP and Explorer 7.0 on my office computer. I'll try my computer at home this evening to see if anything different happens.

It works fine in Firefox on a PC running XP. On the same machine, it gives an "Operation Aborted Error" in IE7. IE doesn't crash. It just won't pull the page. It gives the same error in IE 6 on another machine. I tried validating it and there are a few odd things in it. Let me know if you need help diagnosing.

It does not work for me - I get "Internet Explorer could not load page - operation aborted message" which is patently not true because I can see the page behind the message. Interestingly, I did a right-click "save as" on the link to save the page on my hard drive and can then load that.

I use Internet Explorer 7.0 on Windows XP over a cable modem.

I'm on Windows XT with Internet Explorer 6.0. I'm on cable.

Hope this is helpful.

Mac OS 10.4.10, Safari, wireless DSL, works fine. Worked from work, too, same config with a T1 line.

I've just tried it on the home computer and still cannot load as at the office this morning. The home PC is Windows XP and Explorer 7.0. As I mentioned above, I used to have no problem going to that page. Something has changed. Maybe the Bush administration is to blame.
