Nominations open for third annual UU blog awards.

UUpdates opens nominations for the third annual Unitarian Universalist Blog Awards. Need help finding worthy candidates? Try the categorized list at UUpdates or my guide to UU blogs. Nominations are open through January 19 only, so spend some time this week reviewing your favorites.

In the event that you'd like to nominate this site for an award, here are my favorite posts for the year. (I also blogged the UUA General Assembly for uuworld.org in June.) Do note that although I wax theological here from time to time, got myself an M.Div., and do a bit of preaching on the side, I am not a minister and qualify for the "best lay blog," not for the seminarian or minister blog categories.

Update 1.16.07: Other favorites lists for 2006 from Arbitrary Marks, The Chalice Blog, Jess's Journal, PeaceBang, and The Socinian.

Update 1.17.07: More from CUUMBAYA, Earthbound Spirit, Elizabeth's Little Blog, and iMinister.

Update 1.19.07: Humility from Finding My UU Soul and Surviving the Workday, along with a vow of non-participation from Yet Another Unitarian Universalist Blog.

Hi,

Just drifted in from Wales. Am Congregationalist in terms of formnal membership, but have more recently become Unitarian in my heart.

Wales used to be a cradle of Unitarianism but not any more - I look forward to keeping in touch on the UUA blogging scene.

love,

Tortoiseshell

Dan Harper, laboring under the misimpression that other people do somehow keep up with all the UU blogs, says he's opting out of the UU Blog Awards this year. False modesty, Dan! Think of the "competition" as a way of drawing people's attention to worthy writing and interesting writers that they haven't encountered yet, not as a comprehensive study.

However, if you, dear reader, somehow manage to read everything in the UU blogosphere and have interesting observations about the phenomenon as a whole, I'd like to know how you do it and what you think.

I actually can't figure out how to vote. I looked at all the nominees and there's no way to vote on that page. Can I be the only idiot with this same question?

It looks like the voting will begin Monday morning, January 29.

(Welcome home, PeaceBang!)
