More on Episcopal 'sacramental showdown' ad.

Remember the amazing "Sacramental Showdown" monster-truck-style radio ad for St Andrew's Episcopal Church I mentioned here a few weeks back? The senior warden writes in to confirm what Scott Wells suspected: "[W]hen one of our members who works for a local radio station put this ad together, in fun, the rector agreed that it would be interesting to find out what would happen if we let it loose on the internet, via e-mail." The ad never ran on the radio. I still love it.

Philo -- Mr. Warren said he is the senior warden. I know you know what that means, but for the unfamiliar, his is a lay position of authority.

As I have posted to a number of these threads recently, I cannot be sure or the original text of what I sent the administrator of this site...nor do I claim to be a world-class typist... so since this forum will not allow for automatic correction of my errors, I beg in advance for you forgiveness.

As the administrator has correctly posted, this was never a radio ad, but an audio file generated by a member of our parish who works in the radio field. I found on the internet, rather than through my own parish, that Mike made a second "airline ad" for us.

I know that if you do a google or some such search that you will find that one as well.

However, as a Warden of the church, I DO hope those filtering what I say will post at least this one message without editing ( other than spell check, please)...

St. Andrew's IS an unusual parish...we welcome any of God's children who come to us. This is not to say that we are radically ANYTHING other than in our welcome.

At St. Andrew's, we have all extremes and everything between...all are virtuue of being God's children coming to God's house. This does not mean we all think alike. On the contrary, and I should know as a seond-time Sr. Warden, we are NOT all of one mind.

However, we are of one spiit.

If anyone wanted to see the whole of the Episcopal tradition, ALL the parts are shown at St. Andrew's. No matter whether you wish to see litrgy, hear music as it was written, or are wanting to try to take the next step into living out the future of the is all here.

Well... at least as much as any earthly place can do.

For those who are close by, I would ask you to visit at least see what we do, how, and why. For those who are not so close, I ask you to show the kind of welcome I found at St. Andrew's...even to people who turn up as broken as I myself was when I first walked in.

There is not only healing in his blood for the broken, but new riches for those in the family...and a zeal for the kingdom, if it is only given a place to grow.
