Join the ad hoc Commission on Brainstorming.

Chalicechick is inviting Unitarian Universalists to "fix UUism." If you have a plan — or want to see what other imagineers have proposed — here's a list of the proposals so far.

My recommendation: An independent but perceptive group should prepare a "Denominational Politics for Dummies" guide that explains (preferably in entertaining and wholly unbureaucratic language) how decisions really get made at various levels in the Association. The point? Show constituencies that aren't already shaping the decision-making process how they could actually make changes. Brainstorming is great, but if you want to make change, my question to you is this: You and what army?

Shrug.

I'll freely admit that I don't have an army. I don't know enough about how things go on at the UUA to write such a booklet.

Hell, at this point I don't know which of the 15 ideas people have submitted actually have popular support. I kind of figured I'd let people pick an idea before figuring out how to carry it out. Some of the ideas would be easier to make happen than others.

But at this point, I'm just looking to see what's out there and what makes people passionate.

"Denominational Politics for Dummies" is my "Fix UUism" proposal. (Think of me as proposing a process fix rather than a substantive one.)

Sounds good to me.

Philocrates: What Army? The fast growing Army of those of us who hold our movment in love and seek to deconstruct its hypercorporatism from our deep conscience! Yes, that would be the Army!

Cheerfully, Roger Kuhrt

I went to the link referred to. Is calling someone a "WASU*U" considered friendly? It reminds me very much of the term WASP.

Dudley -- Oh, that's just Robin Edgar -- don't mind him. We can't get him to stop spewing so we mostly just ignore him. He hates UUs. But he's not a bad guy otherwise.
