Large congregations addendum.

I had been asked to calculate the growth of large UU churches. Here are the results:

I looked at the reported membership numbers from the 50 largest UU "property-based" congregations in the United States.

50 Largest UU Congregations in 2005-2006
Total Membership: 34,785
Net Growth or Loss: +435
Percentage Growth: +1.27%
Average # of new members (net) per large congregation: 8.7
Average # of new members (net) per UU congregation: 1.4

These 50 congregations account for:
5% (approximately) of the number of congregations in the UUA.
22.8% of the adult membership of the UUA.
33.3% of the membership growth in 2005-2006.
(These numbers don't include CLF or non-US congregations.)

I'll be back again soon to recognize the fastest growing congregations.
