Better than the 'Interdependent Web'?

Jeff Sharlet (The Revealer) is out with his butterfly net, catching religion blogs and pinning them into their proper drawers: The Catholic bloggers call themselves St. Blog's Parish; the Jewish bloggers (scroll down) apparently prefer "jBlog"; and the Mormon bloggers (ah, nostalgia!) are leaning toward calling themselves the Bloggernacle Choir. (It's too bad "Hie to Koblog" won't cut it. As a kid, I thought "If You Could Hie to Kolob" was the loooooongest hymn ever. And no, I won't be modifying the words for the next Unitarian Universalist hymnal.)

So, my blogger-friends in the curiously intersecting worlds of mainline Protestantism and Unitarian Universalism, a challenge stands before you: Name yourselves! (Chris, Allen, Dave, Dwight, Nate, et al., I'll let you take responsibility for the National Council of Churches end of things.) And, fellow UUs, can we do better than the "Interdependent Web"? Discuss!

Well, as an Anglican, I'd go for the Via Bloggia....

'Blog Your Own Theology' - I like it and could easily see myself using those words as title for one or more blog posts.

Nate, love the Via Bloggia for the Anglicans!

I've been trying to imagine a name for the ecumenical blogosphere, but "One Faith, One Lord, One Blogosphere" just seems long and nearly blasphemous...

UUs: Good nominations! Keep 'em coming!

Philocrites,

Actually, with the addition of UU it would have to be "interfaith" rather than "ecumenical." Fideblogia works for me.

Melanie, let me be explicit again, then. I'm urging UUs to name our branch of the blogosphere, and I'm also suggesting that the mainline Protestant bloggers take up an ecumenical label for themselves. I am very grateful for Protestant participation and readership here, and I like to believe I almost qualify (personally) to be counted among them, but I don't pretend for a minute that Unitarian Universalism could participate in ecumenical work.

Meanwhile, I think you ought to go get yourself listed in St. Blog's Parish and raise the number of progressive voices there from almost none to at least a few.

Blogging the Living Tradition? Or, maybe spin off of a hymn title (like you suggested for the Mormons): Spirit of Blog (or Blog of Life)? Let It Be a Blog? Come, Surf a Blog With Me?

If it's a hymn takeoff, it must be,
"Blog, Blog, Whoever You Are..."

or a close second...
"We'll Blog a Land"

The Blogregationalist Church, maybe?

Philocrites,

My entry to the Blogosphere was via St. Blogs. It is not a hospitable place for a progressive.

I think Blog Blog Whoever You Are would have to be the best UU hymn take. (Although I know this blog will open or Come blog a blog with me would be nice too)

I'm just a Mormon, so I can't claim any expertise. That said, with my limited understanding of Unitarianism, isn't a potentially correct response:

Each blogger may, if she desires, come up with a name for the blogosphere that helps with her own spiritual journey, and all bloggers' names for the blogosphere are equally valid.

(That's based on a non-Unitarian's understanding of Unitarian theology -- I hope I didn't get it too wrong).

Well, it has to be "Rank by Rank Again We Blog." Though if you don't like that I suppose "A Mighty Fortress Is Our Blog" could be acceptable.

Hmm, the problem with most of the names is that they end up with too many syllables. But, they do reduce nicely.

UUBlog

(A mighty fortress becomes) Fort Blog (kind of like St. Blog)

Bloguality

Via Bloggia

Fideblogia

LifeBlog or BlogLife (the latter is rather close to Boy's Life, the scouting mag, or Dog's Life, but)

Terms law Blawg (for legal blog) seem to have died, so Bluug may not work (and it isn't as pretty).

Interesting though.

I'm curious to see what comes of it.

CoBlog?

Who knows.
